September 2023 Safety Recall

MERCEDES RECALL NO SRV2305 fuse rating for blower

Mercedes has initiated a recall for the Sprinter, on which a number of Auto-Sleeper models are based. As you will see from the extract taken from the letter sent to owners, which has been forwarded to me by a member of the club.

EXTRACT FROM LETTER SENT TO OWNERS FROM MERCEDES- BENZ
At Mercedes-Benz we continuously monitor the performance of our vans, both during the production process and in everyday operation. We pay particular attention to any issues that could have an impact on your safety.
During this process, we have determined that the fuse layout of the interior blower of your vehicle might not meet the requirements for permanent operation under the highest blower level.
Influenced by certain factors, such as ambient and component area temperatures, as well as demanding system usage, over time this could lead to heat development in the area of the fuse mount. Consequently a risk of fire during operation and a risk of injury cannot be ruled out.

Should your vehicle be included in this recall, you will be advised by Mercedes by post and requested to contact your nearest service center.

13 December 2022 Safety Recall

MERCEDES SPRINTER

There is a safety recall issued by Mercedes for owners of some Sprinter vans. The recall is for an airbag issue that, in the event of the airbag deploying, could cause, the airbag inflator to burst leading to a loss of restraint and potential injury to occupants due to separating parts of the airbag inflator. We are advised that the recall affects only the previous model Sprinter. Please check with your local Mercedes dealer who will advise you. Mercedes are sending letters to registered owners from address data supplied by DVSA. It is advised that you call to see if your vehicle is covered by this safety recall. We are further advised that Mercedes are not issuing all letters immediately to prevent a huge influx of work to dealers, so unless you enquire, you may not hear of this for some time. You can also visit Mercedes online by following this link, visit website where you can enter your VIN and check if you are affected by any of the recent recalls.

Please be aware that if you have Seitz blinds fitted on the windscreen of your Mercedes vehicle, the Mercedes dealer may want to charge you for removing and refitting them to carry out this recall work. (Removing is not required) This additional work recently cost a fellow Club member £282.76 (inc VAT) for two hours additional labour. The explanation was that this was a ‘retro fit’ item, i.e. not as supplied by Mercedes”
