About The Auto-Sleeper Owners' Club

It all started with a letter. A chap called John Cox thought it might be a good idea to have an Owners Club, so he wrote to MMM with his idea and got about a dozen responses, all offering help. Needless to say, they were ALL recruited!!!

This letter was also read by a rookie employee at Auto-Sleepers, one Charles Trevelyan (one of the sons of the company’s founders and our President)… Charles and his brother Anthony read the letter with both interest and trepidation but felt this would possibly be the end of the matter.

NOT SO! The next week a letter arrived from the previously mentioned John Cox outlining his proposals for the formation of an Owners Club, to which said rookie responded with a polite acknowledgement, a free Company tie and a sigh of relief.

WHEREUPON A SECOND LETTER ARRIVED!! And Charles and Anthony really felt they should do something…

So, John supported by his wife Barbara, Phil and Rita Daley and Frank and Dilys Stinchcome (of Bell fame) were welcomed to Willersey to discuss the matter further. Whereupon the whole matter was left to the poor rookie.

Initial meetings were held in Charles’ very cramped office, but the lure of the local pub seemed altogether more pleasing. So future meetings were held at said pub accompanied by suitable refreshments.

Things moved on apace, members were recruited, newsletters were produced (printed manually no less), and an AGM was organised. That was in 1989 and the Club continues to provide a welcome environment for Auto-Sleeper owners, with Newsletters, information and Rallies.
